Westminster Homecare Limited (Colchester) Feedback

  1. Unable to adequately moniter raised concerns.

(Edited by HWE) The good thing about the service was that the carers seemed nice and friendly and my nan liked them all. However, in terms of improvement, there are lots of improvements that can be made which are clear from what I have written about our experience of Westminster Care. That said, to try and be fair to them I think that the time they are allocated per visit is not realistic. How in 10-15 minutes are carers supposed to help service users with any personal care they need, administer medication, tidy up, sit and watch/prompt/aid with feeding and fluids and fill out care plans – something has to give. It is not possible to carry out all of these tasks to an adequate standard in the time they are given. Therefore, I think the time given to service users needs to be increased to ensure that the dignity, independence and health and wellbeing of service is to maintained. Especially in a climate where more people are being denied access to a care home unless they are a danger to themselves. The lack of concern for all of the things mentioned are a shocking price to pay when individuals cease to be seen people and instead are seen as just a number.
