Armed Forces Community
Creating a cross-sector networking approach to improve services for the Armed Forces Community.
Armed Forces Community Working Group
The Armed Forces Community Working Group (AFC WG) is a bi-monthly online meeting designed to enhance collaborative working to ensure the Armed Forces Community are at the forefront of services’ minds. We have members from various public sector organisations, including the NHS, Essex County Council, military support services and charities. Chaired by Healthwatch Essex, the meeting provides a platform for attendees to share latest research, new services, funding opportunities, and updates, to improve joint working, identify service gaps, and resolve issues locally.
If you are a professional who would like to take part, sign up by contacting our Project Officer, Lily Boag on [email protected].
Timings: Third Thursday every other month 12.30pm-2pm
Armed Forces Community Primary Care Network
The Armed Forces Community Primary Care Network (AFC PCN) is a bi-monthly online meeting designed to build a sustainable network between GP practices and PCN Armed Forces leads to improve communication and co-ordination between primary care services. Chaired by Healthwatch Essex, the network provides a platform to promote military support services and pathways, share best practices, and improve the quality of care and support provided to the Armed Forces Community across Essex.
If you are a professional who would like to take part, sign up by contacting our Project Officer, Lily Boag on [email protected].
Timings: Second Wednesday every other month 12-1pm
Armed Forces Community Mobile Awareness Stands
The aim of our AFC Mobile Awareness Stands is to provide information, guidance, and signposting around the military charities, support services and care pathways which are available to the Armed Forces community across Essex. We will be arranging stands in key public spaces, including at local community hubs, healthcare settings, and at local events. As part of this project, we are covering the patches of north east Essex and west Essex and are working alongside Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (who are covering mid and south Essex) and Healthwatch Suffolk (who are covering Suffolk). To share resources or find out where we’ll be next, contact our Project Officer, Lily Boag on [email protected].
