Helpful staff
The staff at Specsavers Maldon are very friendly and professional. The opticians know what they’re doing and will answer any questions you have.
I have been wearing glasses for 20 years and contacts for 13, and until I had a review of my contacts at this opticians had been wearing my contacts every day for those 13 years. When my optician informed me that by doing this I had damaged the surface of my eyes and should wear my glasses more often, I was shocked and a little scared. This was not picked up on, the optician just went on with the rest of the appointment without acknowledging that this was bad news. I was visibly distressed, partially because I had to pick out new glasses and pay for them on the spot, which was quite an expense as my eyesight is very poor.
I am on the lens scheme, which I think is quite good. When this was first put in place, however, I trialled three different kinds of contacts before reaching the ones that I am currently using. I found it hard to believe they offered me the cheapest set at first, which is not good for my eyes with how much I wear my contacts. I was very clear from the beginning that I did not care how much it cost, I rely on my contacts on a daily basis and it would have saved me a lot of trouble, maybe even prevented the surface damage. [What was good about the service? How do you think this service could be improved? – edited by HWE] Staff are friendly and respectful.
Opticians could use some bad news training or an improvement of bedside manners. Get priorities straight: health of the eyes or saving money.
