Oakmor Dental Centre Feedback

  1. Horrible practice

Im not the type to write up reviews however if this only helps a singular person then this review will be worth it for me.

Please do not come here for orthodontic work as Dr ***** does not know what she is doing!

Dr ***** has recently completed a crash course on CFAST braces and now feels she can carry out orthodontics safely, however she is not competent and should only proceed with more training.

I chose to have CFAST SmileTru clear aligners for my teeth straightening treatment, with Dr ***** and we discussed my need for significant IPR, due to mild crowding, which I agreed to. She advised I would need around 4-5 sessions of IPR however after I had already started the treatment, this then changed to a minimum of 7 and possibly more depending on how the treatment goes ( Almost every other session I would have required IPR and my new dentist said I will only need a few sessions) Although this is not ideal,  I had already put a £500 mandatory deposit down and an extra £100 to begin paying off my total amount owed, therefore I would have dealt with this. HOWEVER my experience with IPR was horrendous.

Dr ***** had to inject my gums with local anaesthetic as she was so rough with the filing that I could not handle the pain. My gums were bleeding for weeks into my aligners and when I would brush my teeth, I was also struggling to put my aligner into place as my gums were puffy and inflamed. I began doing salt washes and using Corsodyl mouthwash as my gums were clearly starting to become infected on one side of my mouth where she was most rough. It had taken 2 months for gums to go back to normal !

I work with retired dental nurses, dentists and orthodontists; I have friends and family who has experienced IPR themselves and my current orthodontist who I have moved over to, have all said that this treatment should not be painful! Numbing gel should be enough to disguise any discomfort during this procedure, and that is exactly all I need with my new dentist at another practice.

the health of my teeth and gums is very important to me, And the thought of another 7 sessions of pain was unbearable so I decided to inform Dr ***** how I was feeling as she would have been none the wiser. I expected her to be professional and take the constructive criticism however she didn’t reassure me at all, she didn’t apologize for how I was feeling, she didn’t even care to check to see if my gums were swollen or infected. She was very defensive however I was polite and ignored this behaviour , so I requested to swap to braces instead and stay as I do not feel comfortable proceeding with the aligners.

When I returned to the practice for a checkup, I could see that Dr ***** had evidently spoken about the experience to all members of staff in a very negative way as there was a horrible atmosphere.  One receptionist/ nurse in particular made no effort to hide her bitchy facial expressions in the slightest. They was making me feel as I have done something wrong. I took a family member with me as well for this visit and she also noticed the painfully awkward atmosphere and evil looks towards me.

Please avoid Oakmor if you’re looking for braces, as she does not care on the health of your teeth, she just wants your money, and if there are any issues she will not care/ likely turn on you.
