1. We have just moved Dad out. Room was filthy.

   8 years ago we visited 10 homes, Longview was far the best. From there it has gone down hill. Fees have gone up 25% and the service/care has dropped by 75%. Only interested in the money these days and not the care given. We moved Dad out today and when looking behind the bed, wardrobe, TV cabinet we found it to be filthy, not cleaned probably since Dad moved in. Dads bathroom was also filthy. On checking his bathroom cabinet it was dirty and had the shelves again have not been cleaned for ages with congealed substances on his shelves (disgusting). When dad moved in they welcomed us with open arms and made a great fuss. However today no member of the management had the courtesy of being there to say goodbye, after Dad had spent around £250,000.00p there in the last 8 years. Yes that is right 250 thousand pounds from his hard earned savings. We had to prompt the staff there to say goodbye to Dad. Such a shame that it has deteriorated to this level. The staff told us they have so many complaints now that it is embarrassing for them and out of their hands. Even the Managers office glass partition is absolutely filthy and does not appear to have been cleaned for ages with sellotape and marks, hand prints all over the glass. The entrance doors are also filthy with cigarette butts on the floor and bench in abundance. Sadly a sign of the cleanliness you can now expect from this Rest Home today. We have been so disappointed for the last few years at our concerns being ignored that we have finally found a much better home on recommendation that seems to actually care for our Dad, is actually clean and the staff actually care about the residents as did Runwood/Longview in the beginning, but sadly no longer do. it appears to be just about the money today and nothing else. As I say such a shame that this home has deteriorated to this unacceptable level. There is much more than the above, but this is just a small summary. n the beginning everything was good. Today we can find no positives at all regarding this home which is why we have moved Dad after realising nothing was changing for the better in this rest Home.To improve the service and care given you would have to change things at the top so that the staff can give the level of service, care and cleanliness that we experienced 8 years ago.A complete overall of this home is required at all levels. If you check on line they are offering the most basic wage of £8.00p per hour for both day staff and night staff. That itself tells you a story about this rest home/owners attitude to the level of care given. They are always advertising for staff in this home, something that 8 years ago they did not have to/need to do.
