North Colchester Healthcare Centre (Colchester Walk In Centre) Feedback

  1. Shocked

I was shocked as l entered a nurse loudly discussing a person personal issues in front of all present. What ever happened to confidentiality. No assistance as what to do. A waiting person told me. Was just left with the form. Asked another person they said l had to take it to reception. NO one waiting but was ignored.I’m disabled and unable to stand for any length of time. When the pain become to bad while waiting and being ignored l left. I was also having by this time difficulty breathing. I sincerely home l never have to go there again. I am now getting medical assistance else where.

  2. Being undermined by a receptionist

I’m on long term medication for the past 12 years to present day,my consultant prescribed to me,yet a Dr & recentionist a consultant is higher knowledgeable than a receptionist position,it annoys me no end,

  3. Long wait and uncaring indifferent attitude

I’m elderly.Explained I had a high temperature with suspected chest infection and felt sick with a recent history of hospitalised pneumonia. No waiver of wait time or offer of water or update of wait time without having to ask.

  4. Poor - no priority for baby with head injury

Attended with my daughter and 2.5 year old granddaughter who had just fallen and bumped her head on brick fireplace. Difficult to see extent of injury due to hair and blood. Asked for nurse to assess on arrival as to whether to go to A+E or not. Nurse gave cursory look from distance and asked if baby had vomited or lost consciousness – when told no we were told we could wait. There were 13 people ahead.
This happened in the evening, so baby was tired – did not want her to fall asleep before being seen. Explained this to receptionist who said it was up to us if we wanted to leave and go to A+E. 1.5 hours later saw nurse whose bedside manner was non existent. No reassurance given to mother or child at all. Just asked if vomitted or unconscious. Washed wound with water from tap, gave my daughter leaflet for head injuries and that was it. No word of comfort to child at all – despite the fact that she made no fuss whatsoever – no congratulation on being very brave. Astonishing behaviour. Used to better from NHS having worked in this service for more than 15 years.

  5. Very friendly and kind Dr

Dr XXX [edited by HWE] was very relaxed and friendly could not ask for more.

  6. took daughter with toncilitus

We took our four year old daughter after she woke up on a Sunday morning with a high temp and rash. We were extremely relieved that it was open, especially as the Springfield one has shut (which is a crying shame). They were very good and saw her after half an hour.
