International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation

Today is the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), a day which aims to raise awareness of FGM in order to end the harmful practice. Valerie, one of our Trauma Ambassadors, runs a UK-based survivor led organisation ‘Women of Grace‘ advocating against the practice of FGM.

In this video, Valerie shares why this day matters so deeply to her, drawing on her experiences of meeting and supporting women affected by FGM. Valerie highlights the long-lasting impact of trauma and the urgent need for stronger systems to protect women and girls, amplify their voices, and prevent further harm. By raising awareness and listening to lived experiences, we can help drive change and work towards a future free from violence against women.
