Fella’s Forum wins Health and Wellbeing Group award

We are delighted to share that our Healthwatch Essex Fella’s Forum won the ‘Health and Wellbeing Group’ award at the Braintree District Volunteer and Active Braintree Awards 2025!

The awards ceremony, hosted at Alec Hunter Academy and run by Braintree District Council and Active Braintree Foundation, brought together the annual awards for volunteering, sport and physical activity, and health and wellbeing in the Braintree area.

Our Braintree Fella’s Forum has been running since March 2025, following the success of our Colchester Fella’s Forum established in 2021. The forums aim to help reduce social isolation and improve physical and mental wellbeing, by creating communities of men who meet monthly to talk and take part in activities together.

In Braintree, our forum members have enjoyed walking, bowling, fishing, comedy nights, and snooker within their monthly sessions. The impact of the forum goes beyond the monthly sessions, with members forming a network of networks and introducing each other to additional opportunities to get involved in the local community. The members have started to volunteer at the Millennium Gardens in Earls Colne and have a football match planned against Braintree District Council and Active Braintree Foundation on 17th November 2025.
