With the weather being very mixed this month, the Healthwatch Essex team have still been heading out to events across Essex. After a brilliant August, find out which public events the team will attend in September but first, let’s look at this month’s highlights…
In August, we saw the team head across Essex to Hospitals, Parks, Family Fun Days, Community Events and so much more. This month the team were delighted to welcome Professor David Croisdale-Appleby, Chair of Healthwatch England, to our office. We were able to share with him all of the impactful work that the team has done over the last few years to engage with people across Essex and share their views and experiences in a way which can make a real difference in improving health and social care services.
We were also seen this month at a community teddy bears picnic event where members of the team brought their own teddy bears alongside our information and guidance stall, sharing what we do at Healthwatch Essex with the members of the public.
We also saw our Fella’s Forums out and about this month, with the Colchester Fella’s Forum went to our friends’ lakes at ICarp for some fishing and a BBQ. Over 20 men enjoyed the session and for the month of September, we will be at YARRA Farm for some bird box making and a homemade stew. This month, our Braintree Fella Forum also went bowling at Braintree Shopping Village, with 12 men in attendance. Next month the Braintree Fella Forum are going axe-throwing and archery.

Our Information and Guidance team have been trained and accredited as partners of the Essex Sexual Health Service Umbrella Project and at each of the events marked by an umbrella, we will be able to supply care packages to anyone who advises us that they are involved in sex work, along with any information and guidance which may be required.
