Our Trauma Ambassador Fi tells us about her involvement with the Dance Network Association and their aim to get the people of Essex dancing.
At Dance Network Association (DNA), we believe that dance is for everyone. It’s not just about performance or technique – it’s about joy, connection and the power of movement to transform lives. That’s why we’re thrilled to support the national Let’s Dance campaign, an initiative designed to get people across the UK moving, regardless of age, ability or experience.
The campaign highlights the profound benefits of dance for both mental and physical well-being, encouraging individuals and communities to embrace movement in their daily lives. Whether it’s in your living room, a community hall, or a dance studio, dance has the ability to uplift, heal and bring people together.
Why Dance?
Dance is more than just exercise – it’s a tool for self-expression, confidence and social connection. Studies have shown that dance can:
- Improve mental health by reducing stress, anxiety and depression
- Boost physical fitness, flexibility and coordination
- Build a sense of community and reduce loneliness
- Enhance cognitive function and memory particularly in older adults
- Help individual recover from trauma and build resilience
At DNA, we see first-hand how dance empowers people. From our Dancing for Joy programmes supporting lived conditions such as dementia and Parkinson’s, to our intergenerational dance programmes, we know that dance can be a powerful force for change. That’s why we are inviting everyone to take part in Let’s Dance – because movement is for everybody.

Join Us for Coffee & Choreography on Wednesday 5th March
As part of the campaign, we’re hosting a Coffee & Choreography taster session next Wednesday 5th March – a welcoming, informal event where we’ll share a cuppa, talk about the power of dance, and of course, get moving!
Whether you’ve danced before or are stepping onto the floor for the first time, this is an opportunity to connect, move and be inspired!
Date: Wednesday 5th March
Location: William Loveless Hall, Wivenhoe
