Expressions of Trauma goes to Romford

Following the success of our Expressions of Trauma exhibition at The Minories in Colchester, we are delighted to announce that a second run of the exhibition launches next week in Romford.

Artwork by De’shay Johnson

The exhibition, created to raise empathy and awareness of trauma and the effects it has, features art covering sensitive themes including bereavement, abuse, chronic pain, and forced adoption, amongst others.

This exhibition will be held within the shopping centre The Mercury Mall in Romford. It will feature a selection of new pieces and pieces from the original exhibition, including poetry and digital artworks.  It will be open to the public from 16th December 2024 to 12th January 2025 during the shopping centre opening hours

Feedback from the initial run of the exhibition shows this is not to be missed…

‘I hope Healthwatch Essex exhibits again. This work is very powerful.’

‘I saw this online; I really hope that you do it again.’

‘This is my fourth visit, it’s just so wonderful.’

Sharon Westfield-de-Cortez, Healthwatch Essex Information and Guidance Manager and founder of the Trauma Ambassador Group, says:

“It has long been a part of conversations within the Trauma Ambassador Group how people living with the effects of trauma often use a creative outlet to help express their thoughts and feelings. It has been immensely moving and insightful to connect with a wide range of individuals across the county who were willing to share their artwork with us. We hope that this display of mixed media creations will prove a powerful way to raise empathy and awareness of trauma, as well as illustrating the profound talent that lies within our communities.”
