More than 50 volunteers currently offer their time to Healthwatch Essex in our work to make health and care services meet the needs of local people. One of those is Adrian Goodwin, a Cancer Patient Partner, who recently sadly passed away.
Adrian stood at the forefront of the Cancer Patient Partner programme, representing the voice of those affected by cancer in mid and south Essex. A force to be reckoned with, Adrian took his diagnosis in his stride and sought every opportunity within our volunteering programme to share his experiences and put them to good use, to better inform the future of cancer services. Vocal whenever present at meetings and events to ensure patient experience was heard, Adrian was a knowledgeable, yet relatable character whom could always be relied upon by the team to raise concerns as well as celebrate the positives within NHS care. Adrian gave so much during his volunteering time with us including inputting to the information and design of the new patient directory within cancer services, as well as the Macmillan support pods and surveys. Adrian also shared his story, personal experiences and updates on being a Patient Partner via blogs on our website. Click below to find out more:
He will be sorely missed amongst the Healthwatch Essex Cancer Patient Partners and wider team. Thank you Adrian, for all you have done to improve local services for others and to share your story. Your work is so appreciated and we will be forever grateful for your selfless contribution.
