Things are changing daily with regards to the Coronavirus (Covid-19), with information and guidance being issued at every turn. Sometimes this can seem overwhelming, but we all need to keep abreast of the important facts around keeping ourselves and others as safe and well as possible.
The main symptoms of Coronavirus are a high temperature and a persistent cough. If you are experiencing these, you are advised to self-isolate and refer to the NHS and Public Health England for guidance. Both websites contain comprehensive, up-to-date information on the virus and its management. Further information can be seen on links below:
You are asked not to attend a GP surgery, hospital or pharmacy and instead, use the 111 service; both online and via telephone. There are guidelines to help prevent the spread of the virus, including social distancing and frequent thorough hand washing.
With many people self-isolating, other issues for concern may well arise, particularly in the vulnerable and/or isolated members of our communities. Loneliness and lack of interaction can have a negative effect on our mental health and wellbeing. Please remember to check on others by phone, social media, email, skype etc. Also encourage them, if they are online, to link in with support groups, interest groups and forums where they can continue to enjoy the conversation with others. Check our social media channels of updates on local events and support groups; Facebook, Twitter.
Availability of food and household supplies is already proving to be a concern due to panic-buying and stockpiling. This leaves many, including the vulnerable, without essential items that they need. People are asked to be mindful of this and to only buy what they actually require.
