This week, our Information & Signposting Lead Sharon, had the pleasure of visiting Anisha Grange Care Home in Billericay, which offers 72 beds providing residential, nursing and dementia care.
Meeting in glorious sunshine in the home’s beautifully kept gardens, Customer Relationship Manager Carl Roberts told me how their focus is on relationship-centred care, which enables residents to continue enjoying activities which have always been important to them, as well as maintaining important links with family, friends and the community.
The home features a cinema room, hair salon, mini-library and café, as well as providing a full range of activities on site for residents to participate in, including cooking, singing and arts and crafts. The hallways are decorated with paintings by residents. There are also plenty of opportunities for residents to join in with community events outside of the home such as theatre trips, dance classes and exhibitions.
Team member’s focus at Anisha Grange is on getting to know the residents well and ensuring that they are empowered and happy in their day-to-day lives, maintaining their independence whilst always being well supported. This starts with every resident being asked to complete an ‘About Me‘ booklet which gives an insight into the interests, likes and dislikes of the person and helps the Care Team build a supportive relationship and create a care plan tailored to the individual.
When choosing a care home for your loved one, it is important to feel happy with your choice. Take the time to visit ones that you are considering, talk to team members, look at the facilities and see how relaxed and comfortable the residents are.
