Discrimination in Health & Social Care | Have Your Say

Racist and homophobic behaviour in an NHS setting has hit the headlines after the Chief Executive the East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust, Nick Hulme, urged leaders to challenge racist and homophobic abuse from staff and patients.

His hard-hitting comments, made during a discussion about diversity and inclusion, sparked controversy and made national news headlines – so we want to take the opportunity to ask the people of Essex (staff and patients)  – what are your experiences of this issue within health and social care?

Have you experienced discrimination of any kind whilst accessing health and social care services, or whilst trying to deliver services to the public of Essex?

Have you seen or experienced racist or homophobic abuse in a health or care setting?

How would you tackle this issue if you were a leader in health and social care in Essex?

Healthwatch Essex exists to hear your experiences of health and social care and to find ways to bring about positive change in services. You can provide your feedback here or by contacting our team on 0300 500 1895. Tell us your experiences today…
