Longfield Medical Centre Feedback

  1. You can’t get appointments

You just get appointments. The system doesn’t work. Taken away the ‘pill’ checkup because people were abusing that system. Which meant I was in the phone g fry or an hour and a half just trying to get an appointment to see a nurse. Luckily I had some pills still as no appointments for weeks. I couldn’t go on Patches as that just doesn’t work it’s like a lottery.

  2. Excellent Practice

My wife and I have been patients at Longfield since 1985, when we moved to Maldon. In all that time the surgery has served us, and our three children, admirably. Appointments have always been available, and staff have been polite and helpful. Very satisfied with our medical care.

  3. Unable to get through on the 'phone

I was pleased to note this morning that Longfields had installed a new phone system.
“Ah, thought I, at last, improved efficiency!”
How wrong can you be! After holding on for over half an hour, three times, I reached the giddy heights of “Caller number 4, in the queue”. Only to be unceremoniously cut off.
Seems a strange co-incidence – or could this be deliberate policy? Still trying!!

  4. Brilliant surgery and doctors

There are just a few things they don’t do well:
One rude receptionist older lady been there years
    One doctor who is rude.
It’s really hard to get an appointment.
    But positives are:
I feel like they are looking after my health. All doctors bar one are so caring and kind.
All the nurses are so lovely and compassionate
New receptionist so caring and kind and doesn’t bark at you like the other one.
COVID: they have stepped up with COVID, and the vaccinations, it’s like a well oiled machine.
I do feel like they need more staff and more appts but all in all I’m happy. Thank you.

  5. Getting appointment is very hard.

I tried to call the surgery so many times I wonder if they want to respond! It seems that they have designed the call system to put you off!!

  6. Phone call never connects

I have tried calling over and over, it is always engaged and when I was ‘number one’ in the queue for an hour before being cut off. Rubbish service and why do you have to tell the receptionist what is wrong with you? Are they medically trained – don’t think so.

  7. rubbish

Unable to get dr appointment anytime other than mornings. No services for people who work. Gp and staff are rude. Inaccurate information given out. Overall it’s rubbish

  8. Appalling GP service

Reception staff are rude and obnoxious. Almost impossible to get an appointment to suit, or even an emergency. If you complain about this you may get told that you can queue at 8:00 in the morning and see if you can get an appointment that way. When you see a doctor they hurry you in and out and do not listen to what you have to say. You will be lucky to get a referral to specialist services, because they like to manage everything themselves, and do not do this well. They are also affliliated to the pharmacy so will always push a range of over priced prescriptions for tablets you can purchase cheaper. They change people’s medication even though there are side effects to this. The old adage of doctor knows best really is in play here to an excessive level. Most (not all) act as if they are playing God. When they make a mistake, they do not apologise but will tell you to find yourself another doctor if your unhappy. Forget it if you want an out of hours doctors appointment or a home visit. Sometimes the equipment is broken and you have to try and get another appointment to see another doctor. Only use this doctors surgery if you really have no other options, and given the reviews that blackwater medical centre is just as bad, the residents of maldon really have very little options. [What was good about the service? How do you think this service could be improved? – HWE] Every aspect of this service can be improved.

  9. Good overall

Feedback via Healthwatch Suffolk at the Suffolk show- I cannot really fault this service. When I need it, it is good overall.
    Generally good.
