Alongside Healthwatch Hertfordshire, we’re launching a new project to help the NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board to learn about your experiences and understandings of frailty and ageing well.
The aim of this project is to provide an opportunity for you to share your story. Your lived experiences will be used to make recommendations on how to improve health and social care services in your local area. Your feedback will be shared with the NHS in Hertfordshire and West Essex to help shape the creation of information and resources exploring frailty and ageing well. To hear your experiences, we’ll be running two focus groups and individual interviews in July and August. These can be online or in person.
What will we discuss?
- Understandings of ageing, frailty and end of life care
- Experiences of ageing, frailty and end of life care
- Information and resources on frailty and ageing well
- Anything else you would like to share or discuss
Who are we looking to speak to in the focus groups?
- Residents aged 65+
- Family members, friends and unpaid carers
- Paid carers and care home staff
Who are we looking to interview?
- Residents aged 65+
- Family members, friends and unpaid carers
- Paid carers and care home staff
- Healthcare professionals
- Voluntary sector professionals
We are particularly interested in hearing from any unpaid carers who are aged 65+ and are caring for someone with experiences of frailty or age-related difficulties. An unpaid carer is anyone who provides care and support to a family member, friend, or neighbour who cannot manage without their help due to illness, disability, mental health issues or age-related difficulties. It could be that you are also managing your own experiences of frailty and age-related difficulties alongside your caring duties.
We are also interested in hearing from anyone who comes from a socially isolated group. This could be anyone who is experiencing limited social interaction or does not have access to companionship or support. This could be due to factors such as lack of accessibility, financial difficulties, mental or physical health conditions, geographical separation, or life transitions such as retirement or bereavement.
