Supporting World Mental Health Day 2023

Today, 10th October 2023, is World Mental Health Day. It is a day aimed at raising awareness and driving positive change around mental health.

This year, we spoke to some of our ambassadors about the weight of stigma they have experienced in relation to their mental health and asked them to share some ways the stigma has been lifted. We used their answers to create a short video in which our ambassadors pass the ‘Weight of Stigma’.

Beau is one of our Young Mental Health Ambassadors. He shared that some of the ways he helps lift the weight of stigma is through music and sport. He said: “Ever since I’ve come out of counselling it’s been really big for me because I’ve had to deal with things by myself.”

Emma, an Adult Mental Health Ambassador.

Our Young Mental Health Ambassadors and our Adult Mental Health Ambassadors were also keen to also share their individual stories and experiences with us. These videos are being released across the week to support World Mental Health Day.

Emma, an Adult Mental Health Ambassador, spoke of her experiences with Anorexia Nervosa. She shared: “My parents got told, and I did, that I’d be a revolving door and that I’d never have a healthy relationship with food or exercised again.”

You can find all of the videos on our YouTube, or across our social media channels.
