Share your experiences of drug and alcohol services among the LGBTQ+ community

Are you from the LGBTQ+ community and use drugs or alcohol or have you used them in the past? Have you faced barriers when trying to access services for support?

Open Road is a drug and alcohol charity in Essex which offers free treatment and support for people dealing with substance misuse. They want to try and find out if there is a need for a specific service within their organisation tailored to the needs of the LGBTQ+ population.

Previous research has shown that there is a higher proportion of the LGBTQ+ community using drugs and alcohol compared with the general population and that they often experience judgement and lack of understanding from staff when trying to access services to get help and support, particularly people from the MSM community that use chems.

We want to hear from people in the LGBTQ+ community about their past experiences with drug and/or alcohol services and about any barriers or discrimination they have faced. We also want to hear about what they would want from a service. Our aim is to improve our services so that we are all inclusive.
