Do you have experience of NHS screening programmes in North East Essex?

We would like to speak to people in the north east Essex area about their experiences of NHS screening, which encompasses a wide range of health checks for adults, children, pregnant women and babies. Types of screening includes procedures checking for types of cancer, such as cervical, breast and bowel, diabetic eye screening and checks for sickle cell disease, Down’s Syndrome and thalassaemia, among others.

At Healthwatch Essex, we seek to capture the lived experience of local residents to create opportunities to shape wellbeing services and policy for others living within Essex. The information gathered during this project will be shared with Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System to help guide and inform their provision of services in the area.

We would welcome hearing from you if you have had experience around any type of NHS screening and are willing to share details of how you found the process for accessing the procedure and the impact that it had. We would very much like to include perspectives of how the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on screening programmes and about barriers and difficulties in accessing screening, but the sharing of any experiences would be very welcome.

If you are interested in this project, please contact our Information and Guidance Team at or call us on 0300 500 1895.
