Under the Care Act, Essex County Council is required to offer direct payments to give people more choice and control over the care and support they receive. Anyone in receipt of a service from Essex County Council should be able to access a direct payment, if in conversation with their social worker it is an appropriate way to meet their needs.
With an increasing focus on personalisation of care, there is a need to further understand people’s lived experience of personal budgets locally, in particular, those who access this via a direct payment.
Healthwatch Essex would like to hear from those who access this service, to help inform a programme of work within Essex County Council, in particular to help shape the emerging Direct Payment offer.
